My access code does not work! What should I do?
- To access the online materials for your product, a valid Access Code may be required. Access Codes are alphanumeric strings used by Cengage Learning to identify courseware and verify its authenticity so that users can receive the full benefits of the selected product.
- Access Codes can be found on the CoursePort card inside your textbook.
- NOTE: Access Codes cannot be re-used. Once you have registered, your Access Code will be invalidated and cannot be reused.
- If you have purchased a used textbook, the accompanying Access Code may also be used and, therefore, invalid. In order to purchase a new Access Code for your textbook, please visit the CengageBrain website (http://www.cengagebrain.com ). After entering the title of the textbook you purchased or its ISBN in the search bar, you will be able to choose the correct Access Code for purchase.
- Some of the characters in the Access Code may be hard to distinguish. For your reference, the letter “O” appears as O. The number zero is represented as 0 with a line through the center.
- If you experience problems entering your Access Code please contact Course Technology’s Technical Support group.

To update your CoursePort account information:

where you will have access to a link to update your account information
If your instructor chooses to use a Class Code for your class, he or she will provide it to you. A Class Code is a unique identifier specific to the class or section you are participating in and allows your instructor to track your progress as you complete the learning exercises within the Student Online Companion website. Your instructor can choose whether he/she would like to track such information in CoursePort and, if so, will be able to provide you with the appropriate Class Code for your section.
Use the CoursePort toolbar, located at the top left of each Student Online Companion website to return to CoursePort. This toolbar provides links that allow the student to return to the CoursePort My Products page, go to the student’s Gradebook, join a Class or log out of CoursePort.
Within your Student Online Companion website, use the CoursePort toolbar, located at the top of the website to log out of CoursePort. Within CoursePort, the Sign out link is located in the upper right corner of the page.
Clicking on this link will allow the user to exit the CoursePort application.
NOTE: You must close all Web browsers currently open in order for the CoursePort application to log out properly. Not closing all of your browsers at the time you exit CoursePort could allow subsequent users of the
specific personal computer to view your saved information and Gradebook.
